It's because the George W. Bush years were such a success.
If you emulate someone, that's pretty much a stamp of approval. Not necessarily blanket approval, but certainly approval in the area you're trying to emulate. So when you look at the budgetary record of Bush, who took us from a surplus to a deficit... or his horrible record on job creation... It takes some sort of vision to want to emulate that, right?
But an RNC spokesman pretty much said that Romney's economics plans are Bush's, just updated.
This campaign has some pretty weird Etch-A-Sketches.
