Old tombstones
in a grave yard surrounded by modern buildings.

St. Paul's Chapel graveyard; Broadway, New York, New York. March, 2004. The primacy of old graveyards has meant that much more modern buildings sometimes run right up against them; the World Trade Center was right across the street from this graveyard, which has now returned to its peaceful, pre-9/11 existence. I used to love glancing at its greenery from my cube in the World Financial Center. Copyright © 2004 Frank Lynch.
