Lawn ornaments: A fireman with a horn and a dalmation are in front of a hedge. Floodlights are trained on them for the darker hours.

A lawn on Bay Street 8th, in Dyker Heights (Brooklyn), which now bears the honorary name "Fireman Jimmy Riches Way." Riches lost his life on 9/11. More here. I plan to wear the same shirt I wore that day. (I still remember our daughter — then eight — baking cookies and selling them out front for the local firemen. The call to arms that day rang out through the city, and while I don't know how many were lost in Dyker Heights, the squadron in our neighborhood lost more than a third of their men.)
