A man walks on a sidewalk where an artist has outlined the former shadows of poles and parking meters.

A friend and I encountered chalk drawings like this a couple weeks ago in Greenpoint, and the concept rang a bell. I'd been thinking of Ellis G, more at Wikipedia. These drawings weren't as elaborate as what I'd remembered Ellis G's to be. They were signed "EGK," however, so make what you will of the agreement of the letters. This was on University Place, just up from Washington Mews. Greenwich Village, Manhattan.

UPDATE: I retract, the monogram on these is "EKB."
