Protected House — Photo, Really not worth archiving

Of a pair of houses, one has steel gates all over its front porch.

When the neighborhood gets safer, what compels an owner to take the gating down? It sure doesn't do much for the neighbor's property values to have this reminder of times past. Cypress Hills, Brooklyn.
