People of all backgrounds (not just poor) on steps of a city building.

A bread line in Dayton (OH) following a flood, 1913. From the Bain News Service, in the Library of Congress Flickr collection.

I like this shot for today because with the bread line having been due to a flood, it reminds me of how fragile our lives are, and how lucky we are to have all the blessings we have. The US was in a fortunate place on the globe, further away from our enemies and on land that was chock-full of natural resources. As a result, we've inherited a lot and aren't always conscious enough of that. Have a happy Thanksgiving, and remember your blessings, even if there are fewer this year than in the 1990's. (Light blogging today.)
