This is the library of the Hispanic Society of America. Washington Heights, Manhattan. Someone in that cluster is Spain's Minister of Culture, who was being given a tour when we walked in. The guide was speaking to him in Spanish, of course, but I learned there is no Spanish word for "Landmarked." It stood out in English, and someone confirmed it for me. Either in Spain they just know better to preserve the good stuff, or there's so much around no one is wondering yet if it would be missed.
