Isaac Watts (1674-1748), James Foster, Nathaniel Lardner (1684-1786), Moses Lowman (1680-1752). Watts, a Nonconformist, wrote numerous hymns, essays, and sermons, as well as "The Improvement of the Mind," a book Johnson admired. James Foster wrote "A Letter to A Deist" and "Usefulness, Truth, and Excellency of the Christian Revelation." Moses Lowman was a Hebrew scholar.
