Auto shops near a stadium.

The other day I wrote about some things I'll miss about Bloomberg's policies. But one I won't miss is his efforts to do away with industrial sections in the interest of prettifying neighborhoods around stadiums. The neighborhood you see here, The Iron Triangle in Willets Point, is soon to be erased for the sake of Citi Field. It's a thriving commercial district and it deserves better treatment from the city. In Prospect Heights I saw a bunch of auto repair shops similarly classified as blighted in order to make way for Barclay's Center. It didn't need to be this way in Prospect Heights, and it doesn't need to be this way in Willett's Point; the Iron Triangle would be much more inviting with a proper storm drainiage plan. Willett's Point, Queens.
